CalWORKs Project

The CalWORKs Project seeks to inform policy makers, using a variety of approaches, in order to positively influence CalWORKs policy and practice, particularly in the areas of identification, referral, and delivery of mental health (MH), alcohol and other drug (AOD), and domestic violence (DV) services to CalWORKs-eligible families.

There are two on-going parts of the project. The first is an evaluation of an interagency pilot project initiated and funded by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. The second is an effort to monitor the outcomes of CalWORKs participants who receive MH/SA/DV services.

An earlier aspect of the CalWORKs Project was based on a collaboration between CiMH, Children and Family Futures, and the Family Violence Prevention Fund. It included a study in six counties designed to understand and disseminate promising practices for providing MH/SA/DV services. It also included an epidemiological study in Stanislaus County and Kern County.
