"The California Health Interview Survey: An Important Resource for Planning Mental Health Services"
This one-day conference sponsored by the California Department of Mental Health and the California Institute for Mental Health will provide training on the use of the California Health Interview Survey in planning prevention and early intervention services. Counties should utilize the most comprehensive community data available in order to plan mental health services that address the needs of California's diverse communities.
Trainers and faculty from UCLA's Center for Health Policy Research will provide hands-on training on how to access data from the California Health Interview Survey (CHIS) via the Internet.
CHIS is the most comprehensive and largest source of health and health behavior information on Californians.
Expert presentations and participant group discussion will involve the use of the CHIS database for local community needs assessments especially tailored to county mental health departments, local boards, consumers and family members.
The conference is geared to anyone involved in local planning efforts including county mental health managers, planners, MHSA coordinators, community representatives, consumers, family members, and data analysts.
